An Answer Product to Super Dry, Flaky Skin!

Ever had super dry skin? For the last 4 months, I have been suffering from bouts of what I have self-diagnosed myself to be, mild eczema. I thought that I was allergic to something I was eating, possibly food with gluten however, my eczema (very dry, itchy skin inflammation) was more of a psychosomatic type in that it was being triggered and worsened by stress.

Above is a "lovely" picture of myself, having a horrible flare up of eczema around my mouth! Believe it or not it actually got much worse, to the point that I had it above my cheek bones, up top my eye lids, the middle of my forehead and my chin! YIPES! Anyways, I tried everything to alleviate my skin problem but for some reason not even vaseline worked!

At night time, I did slather on some Aquaphor and though it softened the flaky, dry skin enough for me to gently exfoliate it off, it didn't take long for the dry skin to resurface. It's as if my skin was going through a super fast turnover rate or something...ugh! the horror!

Anyways, the only thing that worked is this product....

This stuff is what really saved my skin! I just love it to bits because not only is it affordable, it really works!

This cream is very rich (just as it describes on the label) so you honestly don't need much. If you do happen to get heavy handed, well lets just say you might be able to fry an egg on your face. At first when applied, the product will look like white but after a few seconds, it gradually becomes clear and leaves a dewy, healthy looking finish.

This product is fragrance free, but not oil free. It's recommended for people with very dry, sensitive skin. Also, the product comes in two sizes...the one I have is the smaller tub, but you only need very little unless you will be applying it to your body. This would be a great moisturizer during the winter as well. This retails for $6 - $8 and can be purchased at local drugs stores and online.

Here's my latest skincare-related purchase, both from POND'S (Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser and Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser) each for about $7 (online price, but I believe I purchased it at Walmart for around $5) and contains White Kaolin Clay
Kaolin Clay

KAOLIN CLAY - White kaolin, also known as China or white clay, is basically kaolinite and is the mildest of all clays. It is suitable for sensitive skin. It helps stimulate circulation to the skin while gently exfoliating and cleansing it. It does not draw oils from the skin and can therefore be used on dry skin types (source: http://www.essentialwholesale.com/Kaolin-Clay).

PONDS is a very famous brand in Philippines and although the packaging is different, they all share a signature fresh, clean scent that's not too overpowering. The POND'S products, in my opinion, are all very gentle whether it's a cleanser, a moisturizer or a cold cream.

First of all, I love the packaging of this Luminous Clean cleanser. The white, soft tube packaging partnered with the frosty pink flip open cap screams girly to me. I used this cleanser today and I adore the fresh scent. This product claims to remove impurities and makeup, and boy did it do just that! I saw the makeup removing effects of this cleanser right away and it definitely did a great job at cleansing my face. I didn't have mascara today so I can't say that it did a great job at removing waterproof mascara but I will be able to test that out soon enough!

I was somewhat hesitant in purchasing the Daily Exfoliating Cleanser because I am almost always disappointed by exfoliating beads. I have this fear of exfoliating beads scratching my skin or that the beads may be to rough for my uber sensitive skin. Anyways, I gave it a try despite my past experiences because I really want to find a good exfoliating product for when I want a really deep cleansing of my face and you know what I think I've found it!

So I used this cleanser today after purchasing it and right away I noticed that this cleanser created more suds compared to the cream cleanser and the exfoliating beads are not as abundant in amount (compared to previous exfoliating cleansers). The exfoliating beads felt so gentle on my skin, which I attribute solely on the fact that the cleanser it self is very creamy and thicker in consistency.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchases and I will continue to update you guys on how things pan out from here. I have only used these products once so I am still holding back on completely saying that these products are the best ever. Nevertheless, I see much promise in these products after just one use so I am excited to see how my skin improves or reacts for the next few days.

Anyways, thanks for reading and stopping by my blog! Next blog post will be about my shoe collection! Hooray for shoes =D
